The Gruhn Army suffered countless defeats at the hands of The Great Host. Completely ineffectual against the might of the invading monstrosities, the members of the Gruhn Army never the less defended their cities and outposts as ordered. While the soldiers gave their lives, the citizens of the cities were given the time they needed to pull back, and while each soldier knew what his assignment meant, none deserted, none fled. Nearly all of the army, fully 45,000 soldiers lost their lives when The Great Host invaded. At the end of the war some 2,000 soldiers were left to defend the remaining citizens, and though the final blow was never struck the soldiers remained stalwart even in the face of extinction. A monument to the Gruhn Army, Salvator Mundi, was the first thing commissioned in the new Capital of Grox, and each soldier of the army to this day knows of the sacrifices of those before him.
